It can take quite a while, writing down your dreams really does help. I found that setting my alarm for 1 or 2 hours before I had to wake up was really helpful. As long as you’re good at drifting back to sleep. Wake up, write down anything you can remember about any dreams you just had and then go back to sleep.
Go back to sleep trying to think about realising you’re in a dream, and the most important thing is remembering to do your reality checks. Which is something that you can do in a dream to confirm that it is in fact a dream.
My favourite was holding your nose, and breathing. Since you aren’t actually holding your nose you can still breathe obviously. (this failed for me one time I convinced myself I was just holding my nose the wrong way??- so dumb)
You should also look into ways to stabilise your dream because, super commonly unfortunately, once you realise you are dreaming you’ll get super excited and wake up.
When you wake up again remember to write down about any more dreams that you can remember.
